On the basis of a representative survey by "Deutschland Test" and "Focus Money", Salamander was awarded the Sustainability Prize 2020, in recognition of the ecological, economic and social responsibility that Salamander has been pursuing for years.
Sustainability is a tradition and system at Salamander. This lived environmental friendliness begins with the careful design of the products and their resource-saving production as well as the responsible use of raw materials and energy. For example, the new "100% eco friendly" window system "Greta" was developed and launched on the market. In general, an important aspect of sustainability is the clear ecological advantage of Salamander window profiles and their complete recyclability. High-performance design products are created by unique surface experiences made of aluminium, copper, wood and many other real materials and supported by a 100% recyclable mixture of PVC. This is because, in comparison to wood or aluminium window profiles, Salamander windows return to the closed product cycle. For this reason, Salamander deliberately uses quality recycled material in the profiles: This means that raw materials are handled responsibly and new products from recovered windows and doors are turned into a unique product experience, in accordance with the Salamander motto "feel better about doing better".
In addition, the power supply for production at the headquarters in Türkheim/Unterallgäu has been covered proportionately by the company's own hydroelectric power station since 1917. The proportion of green electricity from renewable energy sources is being continuously increased. To this day, the Salamander brand is characterised by its culture of progress and marketing. Each of the design-oriented products is therefore characterised from the very beginning by the idea of sustainability, recyclability and innovation. Within the framework of the S500 strategy programme, continuous optimisation with regard to sustainability until 2030 is also being pursued. For example, the company attaches great importance to the continuous improvement of its carbon footprint at its site in Türkheim/Unterallgäu. For this reason, the management anchors the topic of sustainability in the strategy paper and focuses on investments in this regard, such as the expansion of solar power at the headquarters.
