International Salamander Photo Contest – a picture is worth a thousand words
Between 17 May and 9 July 2021, all Salamander Window & Door Systems customers and employees had the opportunity to take part in an international photo contest. The aim was to find interesting reference objects in a wide range of architectural styles that were built with Salamander windows. A large number of impactful and professional photos from over ten countries were received by the last day. Now, an exclusive jury has chosen the winners in the categories "new single-family house", "building renovation" and "new villa international".
Türkheim, 03.08.2021 With the "myWindow strategy", Salamander defines its windows as connecting elements between façade and interior design. The window shapes the architecture of the house, brings light into the room and enhances the living space. With this holistic strategy, Salamander Window & Door Systems enables architects and private customers to think in terms of - matching living worlds.
Individualised living dreams become reality
The Salamander Photo Contest showed how individually and differently people live and work all over the world. "The enormous variety of submitted photos conveys exactly the spectrum that emanates from our windows and can be realised with them. If you take a closer look at the photos, you quickly realise that our windows are not just windows that follow a mere function. Rather, they are effective elements that enter into a conscious dialogue with their surroundings. It's about aesthetics that are created - starting from our windows and the winning photos have captured this extremely well," says co-CEO Till Schmiedeknecht.
Spoilt for choice with so many inspiring reference photos
On 19 July, the jury met to view the abundance of photos and evaluate them according to the following criteria: architecture, overall object, image composition and window effect. Among the Salamander jury were co-CEO Götz Schmiedeknecht, co-CEO Till Schmiedeknecht, CSO Wolfgang Sandhaus and Group Director Marketing Carsten Kreilaus.
The large number of photos submitted also shows that the Photo Contest was a success all along the line. "We didn't take it easy when it came to voting for the winners. In fact, it was a tough head-to-head race in some cases. There were very many photos at exactly the same level. In the end, only very small nuances made the difference. For this reason, we decided to choose one winner per category," says CSO Wolfgang Sandhaus.
Winner in the category "new single-family house“
The jury particularly liked the style of minimalism used in the photo object by the Romanian company SC EMCA Fenestra SRL. Simple, geometric shapes and a deliberate reduction of colour and variety lend the object a pleasant calmness while at the same time meeting the highest design standards. Here, the Salamander windows become the design elements that set specific accents on the façade and manage to create a futuristic mood.
Winner in the category "building renovation“
This object, submitted by the Polish Salamander partner company Kowalczyk, immediately caught the jury's eye because of its rough yet charming appearance. The timeless aesthetics through the use of bricks - in smart combination with a trendy shade of grey, embodies a historical permanence that at the same time radiates sophisticated warmth. The Salamander windows used - despite their different shapes and sizes - appear finely coherent and immersed in the original.
Winner in the category "new villa international“
The winner of this category is Esquadrimed, a Salamander partner from Brazil, which shows with its object how modern and light-flooded living can workdefy directly on the beach. Light, open and cosmopolitan, the property defies conventions. The windows by Salamander appear here in perfect form and almost avant-garde. They make the façade completely transparent and play with its characteristic charms: modern, simple, fascinating.
"The number of participants from so many different countries around the world and the consistently high standard of the photos submitted absolutely surprised us. The fact that there are so many great, international objects that carry our windows is really extraordinary. And it is precisely for this that I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants on behalf of the entire jury and I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to the winners," says Co-CEO Götz Schmiedeknecht.
Experiencing windows as design objects is a priority at Salamander
With light, heat input and surfaces that can be experienced, the window also plays a major role in determining the individual quality of living. However, these requirements cannot be met with a standard, but require intelligent solutions. For this purpose, Salamander has developed a multi-compatible system for the future: "greenEvolution". This modular system allows 34 different variants and is ideally suited for the construction method that matches the respective architectural style. In combination with the C3 consulting model, also developed by Salamander, the customer finds the window that fulfils his wishes and is ideally suited to the residential property.
