Salamander continues to grow – grand opening of new logistics centre
In Wloclawek, Poland, the most important production site next to the headquarters in Unterallgäu, Salamander Window & Door Systems recently commissioned a new 47,000 m² logistics centre. The previous logistics hall will be integrated into production, so that additional manufacturing capacity will be available at the same time. For customers in and outside Europe, this means higher availability of goods, better delivery performance and faster service.
"The expansion marks another milestone in our growth strategy to position Salamander for the future," explains Managing Director Götz Schmiedeknecht. Within nine months, a new logistics centre, offices, storage and parking areas as well as the corresponding infrastructure were built on around 4.7 hectares. The new building is a central cornerstone in the history of the Wloclawek location, which began for Salamander in 2004 with the takeover of the former Brügmann factory. Since then, the company has continuously invested in new space, buildings and production facilities and has thus steadily expanded the site. Continuous sustainability as a basic principle played a central role in the further development of the site. A recycling plant for the processing of production residues is just as much a part of this as the planned photovoltaic system on the roof of the new logistics centre with an output of up to 1.5 MWp. The currently realised investment volume amounts to more than 28 million euros. More than 600 people are employed here.
Among other things, the window series of the greenEvolution and bluEvolution platform systems as well as the evolutionDrive sliding systems are produced in Wloclawek. In the new logistics centre, the increased international order and production volume and the extensive flow of goods with the corresponding freight and transport volume can be managed without any problems using the company's own vehicles and freight forwarders. Salamander window systems start their journey from here to 18 European countries - from the Baltic States to Greece. Outside the continent, Salamander delivers to Brazil, Mexico, Canada, India and Australia, among others.
