Service, availability and safe transportation
Regulated system for the return of steel pallets
The return of steel pallets is vital to establish smooth and fast delivery processes. Rental and deposit systems have been established in almost all movements of goods and have proven effective for meeting the requirements of the circular economy on the one hand and for preserving resources on the other hand.
Annual investment levels are inevitably high in order to replace missing stock. As an incentive for a fast return of steel pallets and to avoid misuse a European system has been developed by the associations EPPA and QKE. This system defines three options: Either a rent option, a deposit option or an enhanced customer relationship management option.
Information on steel pallets: return and rental
In order to have a fast and smooth delivery, an efficient return of reusable transport equipment is necessary.
The following standards have therefore been defined together with the "Qualitätsverband Kunststofferzeugnisse e.V.".
The basis of the calculation is the turnover of the last 3 months whereby one steel pallet is used for every 667 € average monthly turnover. In addition, a buffer of 50% is assumed for steel pallets in transit.
A contract regulates the repatriation conditions. This includes
- a tracking system for the steel pallet
- a control system
- regular information of the customer
If there is a persistent overstock, we will invoice you according to the rental system. Alternatively, you can purchase the steel pallets.
Exemplary calculation:
Turnover of the last 3 months = 400.000 €
> Sales quota = 200 pallets
> + 50% buffer = 100 pallets
> Total quota (rent-free portfolio) = 300 pallets
> Actual stock at the customer = 310 pallets
> Over stock = 10 pallets
> Monthly rent 9 € x 10 pallets = 90 € pallet rent
This total quota includes the goods in delivery (from the time of invoicing), the empty and full steel pallets at the window manufacturer and the steel pallets on the return transport until the time of receipt at Salamander or the notification of your supervisor at Salamander on the number of empty steel pallets. If the total quota is exceeded, we will send you an invoice for a monthly rent of 9 € per surplus steel pallet. Our intention is of course to get our steel pallets back as soon as possible for the transport of goods and not to charge a rent. Please report the return of steel pallets regularly via the SIPortal app or the web interface SIPortal. There you can also view your current steel pallet stock and status of your orders.
You can find more information on this in the brochure of the European PVC Window Profile and relate Building Products Association, EPPA ivzw, and the Qualitätsverband Kunststofferzeugnisse e.V., QKE e.V.
